The Trico is a very important hatch on Silver Creek, the Big Wood Rivers, and The Big Lost. Tricos start to hatch on Silver Creek in mid July and can be seen on the Big Wood and Big Lost starting in mid August. The spinner falls defines fishing at Silver Creek in the summer. Tricos hatch during the night so the spinner falls bring them to the surface where they pod up and eat all morning (9a-noon). Tricos are very small and the fish can be very particular about their size and color. Male Tricos are black, while females are black and green or black and white.
